Last week, we talked about how God hasn’t given us a spirit of fear, so this week, we’re going to talk about what we can do to overcome fear every time it tries to come against us.
There is a famous saying among Christians that says, “A little bit of fear is good,” but did you know that’s not the case at all! God is so against fear…which is why God says 365 times in the Bible not to fear. The reason God doesn’t want us to fear is because fear brings bondage. It brings torment. And it brings oppression.
The first thing that we need to do is realize that God has already delivered us from anything that the enemy could try to throw at us.
Isaiah 54:17 says that no weapon that’s been formed against you by the enemy shall prosper. It cannot prosper. Psalm 91 says, that you don’t have to be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day. You don’t have to be afraid of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
The next thing you can do to overcome fear once and for all is to speak against it using the name of Jesus when you’re praying and if you need to speak against the devil, because he’s trying to distract you and pull you off of your faith.
Philippians 2:9-10 says that God has given Jesus the name which is above every other name and that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of those in heaven, of those on earth, and of those under the earth.
Now, that we have realized we are delivered from the enemy, we began to speak against the fear. The next thing we need to do is to act against that fear. Fear will always be in our face until we learn to face our fears. Psalm 118:6 tells us that God is on our side, we shall not fear. You have God on your side!
The next thing we need to do is decide to choose peace. 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your cares upon the Lord, for He cares about you. That word cast means to quickly toss…. quickly toss all your worry, all of your stress, all of your anxiety on the Lord. God never created you to worry. He created you to walk in peace.
