Last week, we started to answer Anna’s question about how do we keep looking to God in the hard times. If you have not listened to last week’s episode, I highly encourage you to go back and listen to it!
As I shared last week, it probably doesn’t come as a surprise to us that we are living in some pretty dark times. We have the war in Israel that just broke out, people are more confused than ever by what is right and what is wrong. Outside of a college just the other day, there were protesters that were advocating murder.
I wish I could share that this world is going to get better, but unfortunately, it’s not. The Bible talks about this in Isaiah 60:1-3. It says, “Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see.For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you. Darkness as black as night covers all the nations of the earth, (this is talking about what we’re seeing today) but the glory of the Lord rises and appears over you. All nations will come to your light; mighty kings will come to see your radiance.”
How do we stand strong during this time? How do we, like Anna asked, keep looking to God even in the hard times?
Last week, we began talking about the armor of God and we started digging into the first piece, the belt of Truth, but before we get back into that, let’s go back and read
Ephesians 6:10-18.
It says, “be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.[e] 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.[f] 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
We have to put on the whole armor of God. But what does that actually mean? I sure don’t carry around a Roman’s armor with me everywhere I go. When I wake up in the morning, I don’t put on my belt and my breastplate, and my sandals, and my helmet, and my shield and my sword. So, how do we put on the armor of God?
Ladies, check out this week's episode to learn how to put on God's armor to help you keep looking to God even in the hard times!
